The previous two notes stemmed from a desk cleaning session, although you wouldn't think it to look at the desk now. :-/

Installing Fedora 7 was swift and painless. Like other Linux distributions that I have looked at in recent years Fedora made some odd assumptions, including a screen mode that only makes sense on a 25" (38cm) display. The people in #fedora on freenode were actively hostile, even before my BSD background was mentioned. Perhaps I'm just spoiled by the friendly NetBSD people.

I`ll dive into CentOS 5, because I need some enterprise Linux experience (read: not debian, gentoo, etc, but serious ones you can find on servers). OpenSuse is said to be too overcomplicated and Fedora 7 is not as good as the previous fedoras, according to a Fedora user friend of mine.
I have heard from several people that Slackware is the least "offensive" I think was the word Andy used. Although many people think Ubuntu is a bit of a joke, I am rather fond of it. It suits my purposes.
If it works for you, I'm not knocking it. Edubuntu interests me especially. It's probably just that my needs and preferences are different from those people Ubuntu is aimed at.
